Comal Ohanas Teacher Earns Texas Readiness Certificate
Marisol Cedillo is honored by the State Center for Early Childhood Development
Marisol Cedillo earned a Texas Readiness Certificate for the 2007-2008 school year in honor of how well she prepares her students for kindergarten.
Marisol Cedillo, our Comal Ohanas teacher, recently received a Texas Readiness Certificate from the State Center for Early Childhood Development. Marisol, who everyone knows as Ms. Mari, was one of only 450 teachers from across the state to be honored in the 2007-2008 school year with this award, which represents her commitment to excellence in the teaching of reading and social skills.
Hara Cootes, site director of the Comal Child Development Center, says, “Any parent who’s ever had a child in Mari’s class knows how well she prepares them for kindergarten, and this award is just further proof of her amazing gifts as a teacher. We’re all so happy that Mari’s hard work and dedication to her students is being recognized!”
Mari attended regular training sessions as part of a three-year program leading up to her recent certification. As Hara puts it, “Mari has devoted a lot of time and effort to training and growing as a teacher over the years, so I’m incredibly proud of her for earning this prestigious award.”
The “Texas Readiness Certification: Ready for School, Ready for Life” program was developed by the State Center for Early Childhood Development at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, in collaboration with 20 community partnerships from across Texas. The program evaluates preschool, Head Start and childcare classrooms, and supports teacher training. The University of Texas at Austin Child Development Center is certified as a Texas School Ready program.
The whole child Development Center community wishes to congratulate Mari for her accomplishments. To learn more about Mari and our other amazing staff members, you can read our staff bios.
