Managing E-mail Messages for a Faster Mailbox

Sorting your e-mail messages into other folders can make it easier to access the new messages that arrive in your Inbox. When there are fewer messages in the Inbox, it is easier for Webmail to display all the information quickly. Having a large number of messages stored in the Inbox can slow down Webmail's response time.

If you are using another IMAP e-mail program to read your Basic (UMBS) E-mail (mail.utexas.edu) messages, you can also decrease the time it takes your Inbox to load by creating folders and moving messages our of your Inbox. Consult the online help in your e-mail program.
