Requesting and downloading a certificate

Certificates are centrally funded, but you must be authorized to download one. Follow the instructions below to request and download your certificate. Someone may request a certificate for you, but you can also request one for yourself using the following procedure.

  1. Request a certificate:
    Send an e-mail to your departmental account sponsor (find out more about locating your departmental account sponsor). Include:
    • Your UT EID (do NOT include your password!)
    • The e-mail address you want to use with the certificate
    If you are supported by desktop support staff, ITS recommends you also copy your support so they are aware of your request. They may want or need to assist you in downloading and installing your certificates.
  2. Wait for the e-mail message from the accounting system that will direct you to visit a Web page to download the certificate files. You may not receive this e-mail right away.
  3. Download the certificate and install in your operating system:

  4. Set up your e-mail program to use the certificates:
