New Users

Prior to connecting to your UTS account, make sure your computer is connected to the Internet.

Setting up a UTS account

• For individually funded accounts, go to the ITS Account Services page.
• For departmentally funded accounts, contact your department’s account sponsor. If you are unable to locate your department’s account sponsor, call the ITS Help Desk at 512-475-9400.

Note:  Accounts will not be accessible until the next business day around 10 a.m.

Initial login using a PC

1. Download and install the SSH Secure Shell program from BevoWare.
   
2. Open SSH Secure Shell and click Quick Connect.
   
3. Enter the following information:
                           Host Name: uts.cc.utexas.edu
                           User Name: username
                           Port Number: 22
                           Authentication Method: password
   Note:  Initial login credentials are dependent on how you subscribed to the service.  Users with individually funded accounts will use the IF account username and password. Departmental users will be provided a username and password from ITS Accounting.
   
4. Click Connect, enter your password, and click OK.
   
5. Follow the instructions in the account setup wizard.

Initial login using a Mac

1. From the Applications menu, select Utilities, then open the Terminal application.
   
2. At the terminal, enter  ssh uts.cc.utexas.edu -l username and press Enter.
   Note:  Initial login credentials are dependent on how you subscribed to the service.  Users with individually funded accounts will use the IF account username and password.  Departmental users will be provided a username and password from ITS Accounting.
   
3. Enter your password.
   
4. Follow the instructions in the account setup wizard.
