To better align information technology efforts on campus with the priorities outlined by President Powers in his State of the University address, Information Technology Services (ITS) has launched a new strategic plan. The ITS Strategic Plan focuses on providing innovative, robust IT products and services that help the university to achieve its goals of excellence in teaching, learning and research.
The strategic planning process was led by ITS senior management and included input and research from students, faculty and staff across campus. The plan's vision, mission, values and goals provide a framework for establishing priorities, budgeting resources and setting expectations within ITS and across campus.
Strategies and action plans are in place and already being implemented to ensure that ITS achieves its goals of:
- Leadership
- Operational Excellence
- Organizational Excellence
- Customer Focus
- Innovation
- Transparency
With the increasing importance of IT resources, solutions and initiatives to most aspects of campus life, there is heightened interest in how IT can best serve the university's long-range goals. The ITS Strategic Plan is the next step in this discussion. It provides a focal point for answering questions about the technology choices that will best meet the needs of the campus community, now and into the future as we continue the discussion on how to make UT Austin the number one public research university in the country.
